Today I’m Making Melt-In-Your-Mouth Fork-Tender Smothered Pork Chops And An Apple Mushroom Gravy.

  • Rib Chops
  • Loney Chops
  • Shoulder Chops
  • Butter
  • Slice Vidalia Onion
  • Sliced Mushrooms
  • Apple Juice/Apple Cider

1So let’s get started I bought a pack of assorted pork chops that have rib chops and Loney chops shoulder chops are the best cut for this dish if you can find them because they have more marbling and more fat and more fat equals more flavor but my store was out of but these will work just fine very liberally season both sides of the chops with salt and pepper now I have the chops to a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.

2Let them cook for about two to three minutes just until they get a little bit of color and then give them a flip and let them go for two to three more minutes for a full printable copy of this recipe and many more visit the wolf pit comm now remove these chops and then repeat the same process until all your pork chops are browned.

3Now reduce the heat to medium add butter and slice Vidalia onion saute the onions for about five minutes until they begin to soften then add sliced mushrooms, and then saute for another 5 to 7 minutes then at all-purpose flour then mix it in until it’s all been absorbed into the onions and mushrooms and had a chance to cook for about two minutes to take that raw taste out of the flour and now I add apple juice or apple cider whichever one you like give it all good mix and bring it up to a simmer.

4Now I add the pork chops back in and obviously I’m not gonna have enough room to get them all into the gravy right now so I’m going to have to rotate them as they cook now reduce the heat to medium-low cover and cook for 45 minutes after 45 minutes rotate the chops around and then cover and let them cook for another 45 minutes or until fork-tender and the timings going to vary depending on the type of chop.

5You use and how thick they are after cooking for a total of an hour and a half the chops are done and boy did they smell good and there you have it pork chop smothered and an apple mushroom gravy the gravy is not sweet like you would think it would be with apple juice the sweetness is very subtle.
