I Want To Show You How To Make Some Saltine Toffee.
- Brown Sugar
- Semi Sweet Choclate Chips
- Chopped Walnuts
- Little Sprinkles
List of ingredients because it’s very very short brown sugar, butter ,semi-sweet chocolate chips and then tapping the tree George. I really like some chopped walnuts and just from various with little sprinkles just to give it a festive little vibe and you will need some saltines what I’ve done is they’re taking a large baking sheet lined it with parchment paper and then just line the bottom with some saltine crackers it’s really important that the saltine crackers are salted and not unsalted otherwise. let’s get started,I got my oven preheating to 350 in my saucepan. I’m going to turn that on the medium heat I’m going to add my butter and my brown sugar what I’m going to do is I’m going to let this cook for about three to five minutes or until it’s really really bubbly and the sugar is starting to dissolve quite a bit.
I will show you what it looks like when it’s fair excellent that took about four minutes turn it off and now you just kind of pour and don’t worry if it doesn’t spread evenly because once it goes into the other and the oven does a lot of the work for you you just kind of need to get it on good and depending on how dark your brown sugar is it will be darker or it will be lighter it doesn’t really make a difference as long as you don’t burn it and then I kind of just take my wooden spoon and make it a little more even Lovins ready perfect timing it’s a little piece of brown sugar but that’s
I’m going to pop this into my oven at 350 for about let’s say eight to ten minutes and I’ll show you the next step so my toffee was in the oven for exactly eight minutes it looks fantastic and it smells even better now I’m going to do is I’m gonna just take my choco chips you can see you can see the de saltines are starting to kind of sink don’t touch it because it’s you know boiling hot sugar so what I do now is I just sprinkle my chocolate chips evenly over the top like so I’m going to do now is I’m going to pop this back into the oven for two minutes exactly and then again next up you know me you know the flow by now okay after two minutes you take a small offset spatula or you can use a butter knife and what you do is you evenly spread your chocolate on your Saltine like that if you want your chocolate to be really shiny but you can do is you can use like those candy melts because they have like an oil in them so it’ll make your your toffee or your candy or whatever you use them for really nice and shiny you can do that however you know me.
I’m greedy and I think about taste first looks later, I think they taste better with good quality chocolate chips so that’s why I you tell chips but you can use whatever you want as long as it’s melty yummy chocolate perfect and then and it is optional. I like a little nutty action with some pecans or walnuts and doesn’t matter you can use any toppings you like you can use crushed up candy canes if, you want to you can use em and like whatever candy you want whatever candy you have on hand but I kind of like to just keep it really yummy and so to me I don’t necessarily mean the extra candy because, I’ve got all that sweetness going on in the actual toffee you know with the caramel toffee part and the chocolate so, I don’t find that to be necessary but I do like a little crunch from nuts you can do almonds too and then some festiveness with some sprinkles because ever since I was a little girl I have been putting sprinkles red white and green sprinkles on anything and everything.
5I’m going to do and I’m going to pop this into the fridge for about an hour or so or until it’s gone it cool for 10 to 15 minutes of room temperature and I’m going to pop it into the fridge for about an hour to an hour and a half or until it’s completely cooled and set and I’ll show you what it looks like when we break it all up my toffee sat in the fridge for a couple of hours it’s completely set and ready to go look at that I just love it and then all you do support your people kind of tails right off but all you do is you just kind of break them into pieces like that and the parchment does peel right off okay now don’t think you’re going to get perfect little squares or anything because you’re not because you need to literally break it up with your hands and to some people some pieces in our smaller some pieces are bigger it doesn’t make a single bit of difference because that is the beauty of toffee however if you choose to have all of your squares be perfectly neat you can always use your knife and cut them into the desired size you want like so let’s give this a go because now there’s money right there is really fantastic but salting on the Saltine so chewy the chocolate is so wonderful.
