Today we’re making chocolate covered bacon.
- Four Strips Of Thin Cut Bacon
- Semi-Sweet Or Bittersweet Chocolate Morsels
1Here on cooking with bacon to start off I’m rendering four strips of thin cut bacon in the pan this is over medium heat and after about 8 to 10 minutes from there nice and crispy just take them out so I’m just putting these on paper towel and setting aside so that they firm up for a little while very good okay now for the chocolate I’m going to have three-quarters of a cup of semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate morsels.
2I’m going to microwave these for about a minute until they just start to melt notice not super melted that’s perfect I’m going to start stirring these up it’s going to take a couple minutes to get all the chunks out but as you see the chocolate is going to be melted nice and perfectly if it’s not completely melted then you can throw these back in the microwave for another 10 seconds no big deal but it should get nice and soupy like this sweet.
3So now I’m actually covering the bacon strips so don’t just dunk these in because you’ll break them trying to get them out believe me I’ve tried so use your fork or use a spoon and just kind of DAB the chocolate over these so I’m going to show you a couple these guys but the first one is mostly just dabbing technique very simple being very careful not to break the bacon.
4Let some of that chocolate drain off for a second before you throw it on your drying rack okay for the second one I’m going to show you the rub technique where I put some chocolate on it and then I use the fork to rub it over the bacon this is a little bit faster but you have to be a little more careful with it because again thin strips bacon you can break them easily.
5So I’m just pulled the chocolate up over it nothing too fancy scraping off some of the excess here perfect okay now I’m just going to let some of the extra drip off there and then I’m going to throw that right onto the baking rack sweet so after about an hour little firm up like this you can put them in the fridge if you want and there you have it I’m Kristen McMahon and this is cooking with bacon.
